Boy Sweaters
Recently, I took a couple days off to round out a 4 day weekend. I spent a day just walking around North & Clybourn - the main shopping area in Lincoln Park, trying to find a sweater. I must've looked at 6 different stores, but I ended up finding the perfect one at Forever 21 in the men's section, completely by chance after seeing it in a window display. The smallest size in the store was a S - but I noticed online that they do come in extra smalls. Very cute on - just roll up the sleeves and throw on a scarf or necklace. It's a very good fit, if you like the casual, slouchy look - and all for under $20.
Sweater Critera:
- Grey
- Crewneck
- Cotton knit
- Plain, no patterns
- Not dry clean
- Price to an extent - under $50
Anyway. This is my first foray into the men's section for finding clothes. It sucks that women's clothing is dominated with acrylics and polyesters - either 100% or blended with rayon/viscose. Nothing is ever 100% cotton. I'm actually very curious to the reason why. It's almost like you can only choose 2 of 3 - price, style, or quality. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? Is it a business reason? I'd love to know more about it if I knew where to start. Initial googling did not really educate me at all.

I've started looking at the men's section more and more, I've definitely noticed the same thing when it comes to price and quality. It might be that fast fashion is so predominately marketed towards women, making us accustomed to accept poorer quality since we're told we need a new wardrobe every season anyway?
ReplyDeleteThat's a really good point. I was at that point a couple years ago - where I would buy new clothes every season. It's definitely changed lately - actually since I starting working and needed to actually buy nice clothes.
DeleteI LOVE shopping in the men's sections, specifically for teeshirts! You've totally just inspired me to hunt for some cute sweaters for Fall. Love this sweater! Great post! XO -Kim

Thanks! This particular sweater comes in this really rich Christmassy red that I want.
DeleteWelcome to the mens section!! It really will open up a whole new range of styles and fits, which can be good or bad depending on wardrobe needs and budget constraints haha! I love how this sweater looks on you - it's exactly the kind of fit I usually go for ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was eyeing some flannels in the men's section as well, haha.
